WEEKLY LISTENING - Week 1 April

The magic of thinking big by David Schwartz

The Magic of Thinking Big is a self-help book written in 1965 by David J. Schwartz. David Joseph Schwartz, Jr. was an American motivational writer and coach. He was a professor of marketing, chairman of the department, and Chair of Consumer Finance at Georgia State University.
The Magic of Thinking Big gives us useful methods. Dr. Schwartz presents a carefully designed program for getting the most out of our job, marriage, family life and community. He proves that you don't need to be an intellectual or have innate talent to attain great success and satisfaction, but you do need to learn and understand the habit of thinking and behaving in ways that will get you there. David Schwartz tells us that we need to upgrade our thinking in order to upgrade our life. Before we can achieve big things, we have to think big. He believes that success is determined by thinking big and intelligence, being lucky, having rich parents don’t really help with being successful. Belief is like a thermostat that regulates what we accomplish in life. Our thoughts and beliefs play a significant role. All you need to do is believe you can and you will. While belief is positive, disbelief is negative and it works the same but negatively. When the mind disbelieves or doubts, the mind attracts “reasons” to support the disbelief. Doubt, disbelief, the subconscious will to fail, the not really wanting to succeed, is responsible for most failures. If you think you can't do it or you will fail, you will end up being a failure. It’s very necessary to think about success not failure, what you think is what happens. We ourselves decide our future and how things will end.
On the other hand, believing in yourself is important too. Remind yourself that you are better than you think you are. Most people underestimate themselves and their abilities; they think too low of themselves and often end up failing. Self-believe is important. Tell yourself you can do it and you will do it. In order to be successful you need to stop underestimating yourself. If you want to do it and if you think big everything is possible. Start using big, bright, cheerful, and positive words more often. Use them to talk about the positive events in your life, instead of whining or complaining. Start updating your wardrobe, your body language, and your facial expressions. The little changes play a significant role in our lives and can help us to achieve our goals. Being and thinking positive is the key. Stay away from negative people as you don't want to end up being one of them. Surround yourself with positive people, as the vibes attract. Start believing and think big, that's the key to success.
